Fantasy Hat or Tea Cosy with Sue Eslick
07/03/2020 @ 9:30 am – 08/03/2020 @ 4:30 pm
In this two-day class we will create a unique fantasy hat or tea cosy with complex design elements.
Individual pattern templates will be drawn using each participant’s head/ tea pot measurements, and shrinkage factors will be discussed to create a resist. We will felt around the resist to make a hollow form as the basis for our hat or cosy. The application of additional design elements such as nuno, cords, spikes, flaps and pockets will be explored.
Techniques will be learned to full, shrink, stretch, steam and block the felt and add folds or pleats to form a hat or cosy with a strong design that fits the head or tea pot. Basic templates will be provided that may be adjusted to each individual design.
A detailed Materials List will be sent out to all participants 4 weeks prior to the workshop.
Cost of materials (participant to supply), approximately $20.00
Skill Level Required: Basic felting skills are required. Participants should have experience in felting around a resist and be able to lay out wool finely and evenly.
