Toss n Tell – 15 September 2018 – Scrunchy silk miniworkshop with Karen Wood
September 15 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Scrunchy Silk Workshop
This is a great technique for using up all those odds and ends from your stash. It involves wetting up and scrunchy silk and other bits then glueing them together with a small amount of wool. Karen will be demonstrating on a sample piece, but the method can be used for other things, for example scarves and collars. There will be a pattern for the latter on the day and this can be customised to your own design.
No more than 30 grams of wool unless you might want to make something larger.
A bag of odds and ends – silk bits of various weights, wool end bits, fine cotton bits, silk velvet bits, silk ribbon, mohair, synthetics if they are “blow through”, wool yarn and so on. Sticking to a colour “theme” can be effective, but variety is good too. If you have a length of fabric which you are a bit doubtful about, as far as felting stickablity, then this is a good time for a trial.
Scissors, needle and thread.
Normal felting gear, plastic, bubble wrap, roller, towel – just whatever you normally use.
