We will concentrate of textural and surface decoration techniques using a variety of fabrics and fibres in interesting ways.
We will limit the colour of the materials used in class to black and white which means more time can be spent on the processes rather than having the distraction of colour. This enhances rather than limits your learning potential.
Wendy will bring her felt surface samples and you may experience 50 new techniques in shades of grey! You will go home inspired and with a great new skill set to fire your passion and creativity. For those who prefer projects, you can use your samples (hand stitched together perhaps!) to create something wonderful! You will go home inspired to try some new techniques.

ABOUT WENDY BAILYE
Wendy Bailye has been making handmade felt for 25 years, the last ten years working fulltime as a feltmaker and tutor. Training as a Home Economics and Art teacher gave her a deep understanding of textile processes and fibres. She loves to share her love of feltmaking with others and teaches internationally and nationally each year. Her work is playful and often experimental, and she particularly loves creating new surface techniques.
She runs a vibrant felt art studio, The Felt Studio, from her home in the Samford Valley in Brisbane. Wendy teaches her skill nationally and internationally, has been a Featured Artist with Expertise Events, travelling with the Craft and Quilt Fairs to each state in Australia. She has been an editor and assistant editor with Felt Magazine from its inception, until a few years ago and is the Area Coordinator for Australia and Asia of the International Feltmakers’ Association. She is constantly refining her skills, learning from many other talented artists and students who so generously share their wealth of knowledge with her.
Felting provides Wendy with a creative outlet that is both unique and full of challenge. It is always the process that inspires her and fires her imagination; the finished product is often far from her thoughts. Her work is innovative and always evolving. Felt is such a versatile medium that has so many practical applications – the possibilities are never-ending. It is this that intrigues her most about felt. She is inspired from within her inner landscape in combination with the never-ending inspiration of colours, textures and patterns in the outer world.
